Wood fishes
This fish sculpture is 12" long and made of mesquite on a sassafras base. The fish is band sawn and buffed leaving the "speed bumps" of the band saw marks to stall your eye as it moves along the fish shape, the base has "water waves" lightly carved in the surface. I love making these guys as it is pure wood and machine expression, you can see the action of the craftsman's skill with tools.
Many fish sculpture is 16" long and both the fish and the base are made of mahogany.
